In the Last days Men's Hearts Will Fail Them for fear.

Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

The question was recently ask me about an email that says the following;

You need to watch this NOW! The plan is to sign a treaty in December that
enables a communist government that once it is signed, will take precedence over the constitution. Get this information out so that it foils his plans.
I don't want to live in a communist country, do you? Get this out!!

Is this a real scary threat? Absolutely it is and we definitely need to be aware of it. Can we stop it, probably not, so what do we do? Do we stick our heads in the sand and say, God will protect us. Do we raise up in arms to fight it? If we do nothing it will become a reality and if we do all we can to stop it, it will still become a reality. What is the answer?

First and foremost we must not fear because to do so denies faith and trust in God! That does not mean we must ignore it or do nothing.

Every religion teaches a concept of opposites whether it be God vs. satan, light and darkness or Yin and yang. There are two opposing forces in our world. If you read my home page you will see that I believe we would not have the problems in our world if we all had a faith and trust in Jesus Christ, or in God and lived charitable lives.

Adam and Eve were told by God that this mortal existence would be filled with thorns and thistles. God then gave to us instructions on how to protect ourselves when He said;

Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Enmity is defined to treat one as an enemy. God established a world of tests and trial that we might learn. Our life is not meant to be one of perfect happiness but one where we can learn. This process is intended to let us learn how to achieve happiness by experiencing pain and suffering. It is not to punish us but to bless our eternal lives. It was not meant to be forever but to provide us a means to prepare us for eternity.

Exodus 16:4...that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. Judgment. Exodus 20:20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not. There are numerous other scriptures that have similar statements, if you have a computer version of scriptures query the words prove, test, trial and so on.

I will not go into great detail of this concept other than that it is an important concept necessary to fully understand that whether it be the above problem or others our lives will be vexed by the deceitful workings of the devil.

It is important that we trust God. All these problems created by the devil are to try and destroy our trust and faith in God. God promises us salvation if we do not lose our trust and obey His laws.

In the first chapters of Joshua is a great example of how God blesses the righteous and withdraws His protection when we are not righteous. Joshua was given exact instructions about how to march around the city of Jericho. As they followed the exact instructions the wall crumbled and they took the city. They were also instructed not to take any spoils for themselves and one man disobeyed. The next conflict their army was defeated and many died. God then told Joshua the reason their army was defeated is because one man took spoils from the city of Jericho. The man was stoned and burned for his disobedience and then the armies prevailed.

There are numerous examples throughout the Bible history of the children of Israel where when the people were righteous they and their country were protected. When they became wicked they were taken into captivity.

What this means concerning the email shown at the beginning of this article is that it is not the threat to our freedom. It is not the vexing and devious working of the devil and evil men that threaten our freedom. It is our obedience and trust in God.

With this same concept consider that there were many miracles in our revolutionary war against Britain. For example when the Continental Army was surrounded on New York island a miracle occurred to allow them to escape. George Washington ordered a night withdrawal using row boats to ferry the entire army past the British ships in the bay. Under normal conditions the British ships would see them even in the darkest of nights. Washington did not know ahead of time what the weather conditions would be. The nights prior to the withdrawal were clear allowing the British to patrol the bay and could easily stop their withdrawal. When they began to withdraw a great fog and wind came up that blew the ships out of the area of the bay they were crossing. The entire army safely escaped except for a couple of men who tried to remove stolen goods. These kinds of circumstances occurred numerous times in our revolutionary war. If they had not our small army's would have been overcome and our freedom denied.

The solders in the war were deprived of food and comforts and many suffered great hardship to bring us freedom. It is an example that freedom must be won with our sweat and tears. Nothing worthwhile is achieved without effort.

Consider a couple of modern miracles to demonstrate that God is in charge and we need not be consumed with fear.

In the early 70's I and a friend listened to a talk show while working. The commentator discussed every negative aspect of our political world and described a horrifying future. One of the topics was the iron curtain (Berlin Wall) and how it would take a nuclear war to remove it. In 1984 the wall was tore down in just a few days by the local citizens on both sides without a shot or even a riot.

Years later I learned what brought about this great action. It was the result of our nuclear submarines that for years had been following every Russian sub without the Prussians knowing it. Our nuclear subs were so quiet and stealthy that the Russians did not know they were being followed. When an American spy sold secret information to the Russians about it they panicked and began an expensive effort to build a silent sub.

This effort bankrupted the Soviet Union and brought about their destruction and the destruction of the Iron Curtain without a shot. Now some may consider this just a folly of life or an accident. I do not to me it is the hand of God at work to prepare a more peaceful world even it it may be for a short time.

In early 70's IBM was the primary builder of computers and they held patents that prevented competitors from offering a comparable product. Apple computer began its operating window computer for a price out of reach of most homes. As the 80's began small business began to offer a home game computer such as Commodor, Tandy and Atari. They began with simple games like pong. What is important to understand is that they were illegally infringing upon the IBM patents.

IBM's board of directors met to discuss this infringement and voted not to enforce their patents did not see it as anything more than a toy. Remember at that time IBM's computers were huge and filled a large room to do a fraction of what our PC's do today. So it is no wonder they believed a small desk top toy would never be a threat.

This decision was devastating to IBM because they let it go until it became a threat to them and it was too late to enforce their patents.

The personal computer may never have come about had IBM enforced their patents. Look at how marvelous the personal computer (PC) has become. Now with the internet our whole world has changed from the 70's and we can get current news and talk to people all over the world. Consider how much good this brings to our world.

Just like any good thing the devil also uses it. Porn is number one and genecology is number two of queries on the internet.

The invention of the PC would never have occurred without the intervention and inspiration of God.

The devil works devious ways for example a past email shortly after Obama became president described a serious shortage of ammunition and the person sending the email told how they went to surrounding states to secure ammo. They claimed that Obama had prevented the manufacture of ammo and was controlling gun by eliminating the manufacturer of ammo. Eventually it was proven to be false and the shortage was not by government control but by the fear of people buying up ammo faster than it was being manufactured.

We must be very wise and careful that we do not let our fear overcome our good judgment and wisdom. We must be prudent and wise and carefully study issues before go off half cocked.

The devil plays every angle one of his most devious tactics is to use numerous simultaneously attacks at one time. For example he will use a direct method and at the same time infiltrate the opposing groups. Then use his influence to get both groups exited and full of fear of each other. J. Edgar Hover wrote about how the communist in the 20's would infiltrate good groups by one person becoming a confidant with the leader and whispering in their ear to get them to destroy the good aspects of an organization using fear and flattery.

If he cannot tempt a good person he gets them worked up and full of fear or busy in activities that take them away from the important things they should be doing. An example is a marriage councilor who spends time helping others marriages while their own falls apart. We must be wise and use our time wisely for the most essential good.

Wickedness of the world has caused people to forget God and become greedy wanting a hand out and thus are easily deceived into slavery.

Working to stop the treaty referenced above is worthwhile and we should be concerned.

In summary the most important thing we can do is promote Christ values in our own life and by example and charity to those around us. Until our people trust God and obey His commandments our freedoms will continue to deteriate.

Unfortunately in evil times the righteous may suffer because of the wickedness of others.

When we trust and obey God we will be in the best position to receive God's love and protection. Remember this life is not the most lasting existence. An eternal life is next and will have love of God with peace and harmony. It will be so because unlike this existence the wicked will be removed to their own realm of hell. So the question is, where will be go?
